How to Live Forever
A Response to the Hank Green’s vlogbrothers video;
If you haven’t seen the video, watch it here.
So, I think as a general rule, most people would like to love forever, or at least for a long time. The idea of immortality, and being immune to disease, wounds, or even old age is a quite appealing thought. However, after watching the video it seems that it’s going to be a quite difficult feat. The selective breeding idea, while it seems that it may work, I’m not totally sold on it. I think that it would increase the life expectancy of people in our time period, but yes it would be entirely cruel! Plus, there would be less people on the earth, which is beneficial to some issues in our society, but also there would be less people to go into the necessary job forces such as police, doctors, and scientists. Though we would be breeding a group of stronger individuals, once anything bad happened to them after the people of today had mostly died off, there would be hardly any doctors to help them, or any researchers/scientists to be able to cure it.
When you introduce a new way of society, it generally comes with new diseases, and new diseases will also come without such a change. So the older people with that experience would work their life up up to being, let’s say a doctor, until they turned 50 (or whatever the age the evil dictator decided on) but at 50 they would just stop, and begin to live their lives, and have babies. Then, this extremely qualified and intelligent person can’t pass on their wisdom to others in the field, and it would just be mass chaos!
I don’t know, the idea of selectively breeding our population is just pretty intriguing to me! That, and bathing in the blood of virgins.
